Tested and Trusted: Protector Series Weartest

You've got a job to do. So do we. Since 1948, our mission has been to make boots that are safe, comfortable, and durable. Our customers drive our designs and innovations, and we value all the feedback we get. We recently ran a wear test for our Protector Series cut-protective chainsaw boots. The results are good, the feedback is even better, and our customers will always be the best.

There are many features of the Protector Series cut-protective chainsaw boots that weartesters loved. These boots continue to impress for their durable construction, ankle support and incredible waterproofness.

Durability, Quality, and Construction

If you've been around our blog for a while, you'll know that we use durable bullhide leather in all our boots. Why bullhide? The thickness. Bullhide leather enhances durability compared to cowhide, which is thinner due to stretching during pregnancy. In our Protector Series boots, we utilize a rough-out, sueded finish. This helps keep the boots looking good by minimizing the appearance of scuffs and scrapes while climbing, cutting and hiking in dense underbrush.

Another quality factor is our minimal side-seaming. When using spurs and spikes, minimizing seams in the areas of highest wear can lengthen the life of the boot. Our durable rubber toe cap, heel cap, and outsole are also beneficial in rugged conditions.

Ankle Support

The ankle support of the Protector Series cut-protective chainsaw boots is one of our customers' favorite features year after year. What makes it so good? One word: torsion.

The dictionary defines torsion as the action of twisting or the state of being twisted. In car mechanics, torsion, or torque, is very useful for keeping the car chassis rigid which helps prevent bending and rolling. When it comes to boots, you also want just the right amount of rigidity to keep the foot and ankle stable. That's where torsion-resistant design comes in.

Our Protector Series has been engineered to account for torsion. The secret to our exceptional ankle support is in the midsole. We constructed the Protector Series boots with a sturdy, torsion-resistant midsole. Adding stability at the base helps prevent rolling of the ankle.

In Their Own Words...

"I work on a lot of uneven ground here in Maine and the support is great." ‐ E.M., Maine

"Kinda wild how you can take some rolls that would give you compound fractures and there is not a chance while wearing these." ‐ D.H., Wisconsin

"Even with a slightly narrower tread area (compared to other construction style work boots) the boots are fabulous for ankle support laterally. They still allow for raising & lowering the toes while driving." ‐ L.B., Alberta, Canada

"The ankle support in these boots is second to none. I have yet to roll my ankle. Walking on side slopes is a breeze. I can stand on spurs for hours and my feet never feel fatigued!" ‐ R.C., Ontario, Canada

Waterproofing

GORE-TEX® is a familiar name in waterproofing technology. Each square inch of our GORE-TEX® liners has 9 billion pores, which are about 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, making it absolutely waterproof. However, these pores are also about 700 times larger than water vapor molecules, allowing sweat to escape and keeping your feet dry from the inside out.

For professions in the arbor industry, waterproof footwear is just as important as many of the other features of our Protector Series boots. Keeping feet dry helps prevent blisters and improves comfort.

In Their Own Words...

"My feet are dry every day no matter how wet it is!" ‐ E.M., Maine

"Very stable construction, again with everything being one piece the water stays out." ‐ J.B., Ontario

"No water penetration at all." ‐ J.R., New Brunswick

"I did a climb job where I had to drop all the limbs from a water oak into a ditch that was about 6 inches deep in water. These boots provided excellent waterproofness throughout the job." ‐ T.E., Florida

"I love the confidence that I have on wet days! Being able to walk through puddles without ever having to worry is a thing of beauty." ‐ R.C., Ontario

Our weartesters have spoken. HAIX® cut-protective chainsaw boots continue to impress.
